Frequently Asked Questions
Qu 4:- How many Bowen Sessions will be Required
This is difficult to accurately predict because every individual heals at a different rate. Also the severity of the condition, the length of time that the condition has persisted, the number of conditions that the client is experiencing simultaneouysly and whether the clients lifestyle is contributing to the condition, are all factors.
Comparatively few treatment sessions are normally required, making Bowen Therapy a cost-effective modality. Typically, 2-5 treatment sessions are sufficient, unless dealing with a degenerative condition where a treatment regime may be less intense but over a longer period.
In addition improvements are long lasting . Once an improvement has occurred it appears to stay locked in, possibly because nothing has been forced back and the rebalancing has come with, as opposed to, the muscles cooperation.
Normally i expect a client to report some degree of betterment when they return for their second treatment session. and certainly following the third session. In such rare cases, where no betterment accrued, I would discuss the possibility of discontinuing, having to admit that the Client is one of the 10-15% of people where the treatment does not appear to offer positive long-term effects, other than simply providing a relaxing experience.
It has to be acknowleged that some cases are more difficult to resolve than others. Fortunately, there are over 50 Bowen Procedures to select from, but because with Bowenwork "Less is More" in any one session only one or two procedures would be applied specifically to address relief from say back pain. In a subsequent weeks different procedures may be applied depending on the degree of success achieved from the previous week.
With long standing conditions i advise that treatment should continue whilst the client continues to experience a week to week improvement.
