                                                               -A Stress/Pain Relief Technique

What Is Bowen Therapy

No 2) A Stress/Pain Relief Technique

A series of gentle rolling moves are made over muscles, tendons ligaments and sometimes nerves.  These moves are interspersed with a series of frequent pauses which allows the body to absorb the nerve signals generated . Such frequent pauses, where the therapist leaves the room allowing the client to rest,  are a unique feature of  Bowen Therapy.

Although Bowen therapy relaxes the body it is not a massage technique. The gentle moves are performed across, rather than along muscles -akin to plucking a guitar string
.  This action induces a small  impulse in the bodies  fascia* which is transmitted onwards to the brain.
(*fascia is a sheet or band of fibrous connective tissue enveloping, separating, or binding together muscles, organs, and other soft structures of the body)

The Bowen Technique produces a sense of deep relaxation in the body. This is considered important since when the body is in a relaxed state the brain appears more able to process the generated nerve signals.  The brain evaluates such signals and a rebalancing process appears to subsequently commence.
